The St Cuthbert's Way is 66 miles, 106 kms, long and one of UK's long distance way-marked walking trails. The walking holiday begins at Melrose Abbey, and follows the course of the River Tweed, passes the ruined Abbey of Dryburgh and crosses the River Teviot via The Roman Roads (Dere Street). Walking through the wild Cheviot Hills passing St Cuthbert's Cave, St Cuthbert's Way ends on the Northumberland coast at the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, famous for its ruined abbey and fine castle. The causeway to Holy Island is tidal and so this holiday is only available when the tides are favourable. | This walking holiday is great hiking for visitors to the UK as it offers a taste of England's history both ancient and religious. The hiking route is a great first walking holiday as it is fairly easy walking and offers a wealth of interesting places to visit en-route, both in Scotland and England. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
